Deputy Renard Spivey also worked as an actor, recently as the baliff on the TV show “Justice for All with Judge Cristina Perez” from 2012 to 2016.
According to authorities, Deputy Spivey called police around 3 a.m. and said there was an accidental shooting on Briscoe Street. Houston police say the situation involved a domestic disturbance.
Spivey was wounded in the leg and his wife Patricia Spivey was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office says it has no record of any domestic violence issues involving Deputy Spivey. Persons working in the law enforcement field have among the highest domestic violence as well as mental illness rates in any profession in America.
Court documents stated that Spivey may have a mental illness or an intellectual disability. He will get a mental health assessment which some feel should be given to all officers regularly to protect themselves and the public from actions such as these.
